Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard

100 Points:
2022 Annulus Vine Hill Ranch

We are deeply honored to share that Jonathan Cristaldi and Decanter Magazine have awarded our 2022 Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a perfect 100-point score — a defining moment in this early chapter of our story.

Portfolio

Annulus wines are crafted under the leadership of Nigel Kinsman and collaborating oenologist Michel Rolland, to reflect Napa Valley’s diverse terroirs through its most quintessential expression—Cabernet Sauvignon. Small by design, with fewer than 900 cases made, each release pays tribute to this remarkable Valley, the heritage vineyards that have embodied its character for generations, and the connections forged in the making and sharing of wine.

Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon

2022

Crafted from Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard on the western bench of the St. Helena AVA, this 2022 single-vineyard-designate opens with ripe black cherries and bittersweet chocolate. Blueberry, sage, and highlights of lilac unfold across the palate, anchored by graphite and wet stone minerality that present the vineyard’s distinctive terroir. Fine-grained tannins lend poise, balance, and depth.

“…gorgeous aromas of ripe black cherries, currants, chocolate, and chalky minerality… it’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and seamless on the palate, with perfectly integrated oak. This is a remarkable achievement in 2022 that will keep for 15+ years.”

Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon

2022

The 2022 single-vineyard-designate Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has bright aromatics of cranberries and chocolate. Ample red and black fruit follow on the palate, mixed with chocolate, cedar, tobacco, loamy earth, and notes of violet. This wine’s expressive and lush qualities are balanced with minerality and evoke classic characteristics of this renowned vineyard, located on the western bench of the Oakville AVA in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains.

100 points | Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter, March 2025

“A stylish, polished wine—super-suave and expressive, with rich, perfectly weighted fruit and gorgeous, super-fine tannins infused with an iron-scented minerality. Beautifully compact yet intensely juicy, it bursts with red and black fruit, layered with gravelly mineral depth. The exceptional tension and structure give it poise and balance, making it a masterful effort that radiates freshness, precision and impeccable harmony.”

Napa Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon

2022

Blended with 10% Petit Verdot for complexity, our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon showcases exceptional sites across the Valley, including fruit from Stags Leap and Diamond Mountain, in addition to other heritage vineyard sources. The nose is richly aromatic, offering notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, and sage. On the palate, the wine is generous and full, with juicy fruit framed by accents of graphite, leather, and menthol. Refined tannins and good acidity lend balance and verve to this alluring blend.

96 points | Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter, February 2025

“This wine carries…elegant red berry fruit and rich volcanic crushed stone minerality, accented by bay laurel and sage…velvety-textured tannins frame layers of mocha, more bay laurel, and white pepper, adding nuance and depth. The finish is long and refined, leaving lingering notes of earth and conifer.”

Napa Valley
Sauvignon Blanc

2024

The 2024 Annulus Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Juliana Vineyard nestled in Pope Valley. Reminiscent of a Bordeaux blanc, it includes a touch of Sémillon and spent six months sur lie in French oak, adding depth and roundness to Sauvignon Blanc’s natural brightness. Aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle, and a hint of green olive lead into a palate of apricot, lemon confit, white grapefruit, and oyster shell salinity. Crisp and mineral-driven, it is refreshing on its own yet balanced enough to pair across a wide range of foods.
