Annulus wines are crafted under the leadership of Nigel Kinsman to reflect Napa Valley’s diverse terroirs through its most quintessential expression—Cabernet Sauvignon. We were honored to have Michel Rolland as a collaborator for the first five vintages of Annulus; we now carry his passion forward and honor his memory in spirit and craft. Small by design, with fewer than 900 cases made, each Annulus release pays tribute to extraordinary craftsmanship, the remarkable Valley and the heritage vineyards that have embodied its character for generations, and the connections forged in the making and sharing of wine.

2023

The 2023 inky-hued vintage commands bold notes of boysenberry and black cherry woven with bay laurel and licorice. The wine is full-bodied, yet refined, with accents of roasted cacao and graphite complemented by subtle notes of forest floor. Superfine tannins deliver a luscious mouthfeel that frames a long, velvety finish. This single-vineyard designate’s expressive, lush qualities are balanced by minerality and evoke the classic characteristics of this renowned vineyard, located on the western bench of the Oakville AVA in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains.

“…deep purple-hued and offers cassis, spring flowers, violets, graphite, and chocolate-driven aromatics…it’s full-bodied, with a pure, focused, elegant texture, ripe tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. This single-vineyard designate Cabernet Sauvignon continues to be sourced from the western bench of the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard, at the base of Spring Mountain. Our interpretation of this historic 25-acre site offers a refined showcase of the distinctive graphite and wet-stone minerality that gives it its name. The 2023 vintage unfurls notes of black cherry and black currant, nuanced by warming elements of coffee, cassis, and a whisper of dried lilac and lavender. It is both commandingly rich and balanced, with supple tannins that create an elegant, full-bodied wine with a long, sinuous finish.

The 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon includes fruit sourced from exceptional vineyards across the Valley, including our heritage vineyards and sites in Stags Leap and Diamond Mountain. Blended with 1.5% Petit Verdot, it is a richly layered, vibrant, and full-bodied wine. This vintage presents a luscious fruit-forward palate of red currants and blackberries, embellished with subtleties of chocolate, graphite, rose petals, and cedar. The structure is defined by fine tannins that lend purity, focus, and length to this plush and energetic blend.

The 2024 Annulus Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Juliana Vineyard nestled in Pope Valley. Reminiscent of a Bordeaux blanc, it includes a touch of Sémillon and spent six months sur lie in French oak, adding depth and roundness to Sauvignon Blanc’s natural brightness. Aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle, and a hint of green olive lead into a palate of apricot, lemon confit, white grapefruit, and oyster shell salinity. Crisp and mineral-driven, it is refreshing on its own yet balanced enough to pair across a wide range of foods.
